1. Who we are
retconic.com (the “Site”) is operated by Retconic, a sole trader based at 39 Elm Grove Road, Farnborough, Hampshire, GU14 7RD, United Kingdom. References to “we,” “us,” or “our” mean Retconic.
2. Acceptance
By using the Site you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it. If you use the Site on behalf of a company or team, you confirm you’re authorised to bind that organisation to these terms.
3. What the Site and workspace are
retconic.com (the “Site”) is the public landing page for Retconic. The Retconic workspace (at retconic.com/retconic) is a free, browser-based AI game design tool. It lets you create and manage game design documents, kanban boards, research notes, and roadmaps, with the assistance of an AI powered by the OpenRouter API.
The workspace is local-first: your project data is stored in your browser’s localStorage on your own device. We do not store your project data on our servers. If you configure an optional Supabase cloud sync, your data is stored on your own Supabase instance, which is governed by Supabase’s terms and your account with them.
When you use the AI chat feature, messages you send are forwarded to the OpenRouter API (openrouter.ai) using an API key you provide. Retconic does not see, log, or store your chat messages or project content. OpenRouter’s terms and privacy policy apply to data processed through their service.
4. Newsletter
Subscribing to the newsletter means you consent to receive emails from us. You can unsubscribe with one click in any email, or by emailing brandon@retconic.com. See our Privacy notice for how we handle your email address.
5. The workspace
The Retconic workspace is provided free of charge. You are responsible for your own OpenRouter API key and any costs incurred through its use. We do not process payments and are not responsible for any charges from OpenRouter or Supabase.
The workspace is provided “as is,” without warranty of any kind. We make reasonable efforts to keep it working but make no guarantees of uptime, data retention, or fitness for any particular purpose.
6. Intellectual property
All content on the Site — including written essays, frameworks, worksheets, brand assets, and code — is owned by Retconic or licensed to us, unless otherwise stated. You may quote short extracts of editorial content with attribution and a link back. You may not republish whole pages or use our brand assets without written permission.
Brand assets are provided for press, partner, and editorial use as-is. Don’t modify the wordmark or icon. Don’t imply endorsement.
7. Acceptable use
Don’t use the Site to:
- Break the law or harm others.
- Probe, scan, or attempt to gain unauthorised access.
- Scrape content for training AI models or republishing.
- Send malicious traffic, spam, or automated requests at a rate that disrupts the Site.
8. Liability
The Site is provided “as is.” We do our best to keep it accurate and online, but we make no warranties beyond what the law requires. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the Site.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be limited under English law.
9. Third-party links
The Site may link to third-party sites. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for their content or practices.
10. Changes
